Transit Coordination and SPUR

On July 16, 2014 Michelle DeRobertis spoke at the SPUR Luncheon on the topic of Seamless Transit.  Michelle’s presentation highlighted the German concept of  public transit coordination agencies, called verkehsrverbund.

All major and medium-sized european cities have multiple transit providers, but what they have that we don’t have is an coordinating agency that is composed of transit agency representatives. The solution to transit fragementation in the Bay Area is coordination not consolidation.

Michelle also presented the same topic to SPUR’s transportation policy board that afternoon, where many members were familiar with verkehsrverbund, from their personal or profesional experiences in Germany.
